i-Sign American Sign Language Classes
i-Sign’s Focus: American Sign Language (ASL) is more than a visual language used to fill a need, it’s a life skill that bridges the gap between hearing and deaf culture. ASL is used in the U.S. for many different purposes such as educational, medical, legal, live music, sporting events, media, etc. Everyone can learn ASL! It’s never too late to learns signs that will help in many areas of your life; even for hearing people.
Cost: All monthly sessions are $60. Each session meets four times a month for one hour. Payment must be made before the registration deadline to ensure class quota is met. Minimum of 5 is required for class to be held. Maximum for classes is 20.
Session Dates: All classes meet on Saturdays in the Small Activity Room in the Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Center. Times for classes are listed below.
Session 1: Saturday, June 1 – Saturday, June 22 (Registration Deadline: Saturday, May 25)
Session 2: Saturday, July 6 – Saturday, July 27 (Registration Deadline: Saturday, June 29)
Session 3: Saturday, August 3 – Saturday, August 24 (Registration Deadline: Saturday, July 27)
Tiny Hands (ages 6-24 months)*
Baby sign language focuses on simple hand movements for Tiny Hands to form. ASL encourages early communication and interactive play.
*One parent required.
Little Hands (ages 2-5)*
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Manual ASL teaches toddlers to share emotions, identify needs and encourages Little Hands to match signs with spoken words.
*One parent required.
Growing Hands (ages 6-12)
Elemantary ASL focuses on pleasantries, introductions, sight word recognition and enhances reading skills.
Teens (ages 13-17)
Teens love interacting with sign language! ASL encourages socialization, peer to peer communication, and building a foundation for receptive skills.
Adults (ages 18+)
The primary focus of Adult ASL is concept signs, sentence structuring and labeling.

-4 years interpreting live music and sporting events
-2 years’ experience teaching ASL to homeschooled groups
-Interned with Deaf Education Program in Cumberland County Schools
-2 years teaching privately to need based families of Deaf, HOH, and nonverbal children and adults
All classes are Autism and Sensory Friendly

4 Week Series
Friday Mornings - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Ages 2-5 years
Pre-School Athletes introduces children to basic sports fundamentals, skills and gameplay. While each class will involve movement and play, Kids in Sports staff will also incorporate educational and creative pieces. Every registered child will receive an official “Kids in Sports” tee-shirt.
Sports introduced: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball, and Cooperative Games
Session 1: June 7th – June 28th (registration deadline May 31st)
Session 2: July 12th – August 2nd (registration deadline July 5th)
**Required class minimum is 5 for class to be held. Class maximum is 12.
Messy Little Hands
4 Week Sessions
Thursday Mornings - 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
$35 per child
Ages 2 - 5 years
MESSY LITTLE HANDS is a series of four creative craft classes that explore basic art techniques through different mediums. These classes offer a fun environment for children to get their little hands messy while making new friends! Projects are geared towards children using their fine motor skills while exploring the world of art through these projects.
Session 1: May 2 - May 23 (Registration Deadline: April 25, 2019)
Session 2: June 6 - June 27 (Registration Deadline: May 30, 2019)
**This program requires parent/guardian participation- so expect to get your hands messy too!
**Minimum quota of 3 is required for class to be held. Only 10 spots available!
6 week series
Days: Wednesday Evenings
Times: 6-8 pm
Cost: $40/All 6 classes
For creative expression, come join us in the six week class, painting Wildlife Landscapes. In this class you will learn basic composition, color and brush techniques while using Mixed Medium. Pick up a list of supplies at registration and come to the first class, ready to paint. You may email your instructor with any questions at email@example.com.
Required class minimum is 5 for class to be held. Class maximum is 10.

Fine Silver Metal Clay
Date: Tuesday, May 28, 2019
Times: 9:30 - 11:30 am or 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Cost: $25 (supplies included)
FINE SILVER METAL CLAY is a 2 hour introductory class on how to make jewelry out of fine metal clay. Each student will learn about silver metal clay and its properties. You will create a one-of-a-kind fine silver charm with your choice of shape and texture. When the piece is complete, it will be .999 pure fine silver!
**Registration Deadline: Tuesday, May 21, 2019 (Minimum quota of 4 is required for class to be held)
**Based on student feedback, this class may turn into a series of classes with more advanced techniques.
