Located in southwestern Cumberland County, North Carolina, Hope Mills is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the State. Hope Mills offers a naturally beautiful area where the quality of life of its residents is most important. Coupled with a temperate climate is the small-town setting born of an old mill village. The focus on the future of this community is quality growth.
The 2000 Census places the number of population at 11,237 people calling Hope Mills home. Since 1990, the Town’s population has grown 26%, averaging an annual growth of 2.7%. The population of Hope Mills is 2.5% of the population of Cumberland County, which has 302,963 people. Based on the steady pattern of growth over the last ten years, the population is expected to reach nearly 15,000 by the year 2010.

Voter Registration
To vote in city, county, state and federal elections, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, mentally sound, not a convicted felon and registered with your correct address.
You must register 25 days prior to the election you wish to vote in.
You may register to vote in Hope Mills and Cumberland County immediately after establishing residency. You may register to vote by:
Going directly to the Cumberland County Board of Elections office located at 301 East Russell Street in Fayetteville, 910-678-7733;
Mail by securing a form from the Board of Elections, public libraries, driver’s license agencies (when conducting official business there), or through various State agencies where you may be applying for benefits.
Municipal elections in Hope Mills are non-partisan. The mayor and 5 commissioners are elected at-large to two-year terms. Municipal elections are held every other year (odd-numbered years) on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November. The next municipal election will be held in November 2001. Residents are also eligible to cast ballots in all county State and federal primaries and elections, when held.

- HM #1 at the Towns’ Municipal Center, 5766 Rockfish Road and,
- HM #3 at Hope Mill’s Middle School, 4975 Cameron Road.
