  • We strongly suggest arranging the pickup with a moving company. Other options are to call our office ahead of time so that we can coordinate with Waste Management for the pickup. Boxes will need to be broken down flat and stacked together by the curb (be mindful of weather conditions). Residents can also utilize any of the container sites and recycling centers operated by Cumberland County.

  • Only bagged household trash may be placed in your trash cart. Bagging helps keep your cart clean and reduces wind-blown litter. Disposed pet waste must be double bagged. DO NOT place yard waste, brush or any constructions debris in your cart. Automotive parts, tires, hazardous waste, hot ashes and corrugated cardboard are also prohibited. Remember that plastic bottles are banned from the land fill. All recyclables should be placed in your recyclable container to be picked up by Waste Management.

Hazardous waste can be taken to Household Hazardous Waste Collection site located on Wilkes Road past the landfill. There is a limit of 10 gallons or 80 pounds per day-per household. • Refuse tax is assessed per single family, regardless of the size of the family. We encourage everyone to use any of the Cumberland County container sites to dispose of additional/excess refuse. A second container can be authorized at the expense of the resident.  It would be billed directly through Waste Management (WM). Contact Hope Mills Public Works at (910) 429-3387 or email at publicworks@townofhopemills.com for information on additional containers.

  • The first things that needs done is to identify exact location of the unserviceable street light. Service orders should be called for lights that stay on, are completely out, have broken or missing globes, or when they operate intermittently. The location should be the property closest to the light, and in addition whenever possible, the number identifying the pole (located at eye sight on street light pole). Contact our office numbers with this information and we will be glad to call the respective electric company to schedule repairs.
